Social Media Spring Cleaning Checklist for Actors

By: Heidi Dean

Your social media should be constantly evolving and changing just like you are. The birds are singing and the flowers are finally blooming, but if your social media accounts look like they’re stuck in winter, you may need a little ‘Spring Cleaning’ to bring them up-to-date.

Here’s a checklist to make sure you’re making your best first impression on social media for your acting career:

1. Revisit your social media bios.

Make sure they reflect YOU now, not you a year ago.

2. Update your header/cover photos.

Does your header photo reflect your most recent work or gigs from last year? Update them if needed.

3. Make sure your profile photos are up-to-date.

Are you using your latest headshot? Are you being consistent across all of your social networks so we know that it’s you?

4. Check ALL of the website links on your social media profiles.

Make sure they work (you’d be surprised).

5. Do an audit of your recent posts.

Make sure they all look and sound like you. If not….have a coffee date with yourself and find the ME in your social MEdia.

6. Clean-up your followers on Twitter & Instagram!

Are you following WAY more people than are following you? If some folks have decided not to join your party on social it’s ok to unfollow them. No hard feelings. Make some room for some awesome NEW friends this summer!

7. Look at what platforms you’re using.

Make sure they’re the right ones for your career RIGHT NOW.

8. Do a Facebook and Instagram audit of all the photos you’re tagged in.

Untag yourself from anything that isn’t you and that isn’t showing you as your best self!

And since we’re already online let’s….

9. Update your bio on your website.

Make sure it includes your most recent successes and credits.

10. Update your contact info.

Make sure it’s current and double check your ‘Contact form’ on your website.

11. Update your resume.

Make sure your resume is current on your website & all casting profiles.

12. Update your headshot.

Make sure it’s up to date on your website & all casting profiles.

13. Update your IMDb.

Make sure you have ALL your credits on IMDb.

14. Google Yourself!

Clean-up ANYTHING you wouldn’t want part of your 1st impression.

Now that you’ve cleaned up your accounts let’s make sure you’re not making any social media mistakes for your career. This free class for actors will help.
